Our facebook post : A few concerned community members saw this little girl for " adoption " at a pet store in the bay area. Afraid she would be collected by someone with no prior experience or knowledge they reached out to CA Chins, but unfortunately Michael is overwhelmed with Chinchillas right now ( please, go adopt! ).
Michael let me know, and since our wait-list for surrenders was empty... And the three we originally were going to accept from Nevada never arrived.
We said we would look into it annnnnd, we had a volunteer go pull her for us.
She's a little greasy, and small, scared and barking, but we'll see how she settles in and go from there.
Typically we wouldn't pull from a pet store ( nor would we buy them! ) but we did call the store and we were told that she wasn't selling and had been there for awhile. They were moving the chins out. I'm not sure if that means the store will stop selling chins, but, we hope so .
I personally don't have an issue with stores selling animals, but I do have an issue with low quality care or poor welfare standards. Conditions need to be approved across the board.

These animals live in FOSTER HOMES. The rescue group does not have a facility for visitors.
